"Marie Kondo" Your House... and Business
Through organization, you can be ready for potential opportunities that you might have not seen before.
Smoke, Asthma, and Interesting Google Searches
The shaking and vomiting were signs that my body wasn’t getting enough oxygen. It was my body saying it needed my help. This sounds like a very familiar line.
Are You a Firefighter or a Master of Time?
I think there are a lot of reasons why people aren’t in control of what their time looks like. I think they want to be in control, but don’t know how. Maybe it’s a lack of confidence, maybe it’s an assumed expectation that someone’s pushed on them. Or maybe it’s the fear of being in control.
Where'd My Confidence Go?
It’s a weird feeling. You mentally know that you can complete the job, no problem. Your skill set is documented by your education and experience. You KNOW you’re deserving of this recognition, but you still feel like a fraud some days. Guess what, there’s a name for that.
Yes, There ARE Good People Still Out There
I look at my husband for a long minute before responding. (I watch WAY TOO MANY serial killer documentaries…) I turn to him and ask if he has room for all our luggage, and he says that he has a pick up truck with a topper on the back. Looking at my husband again, he gives me a “you decide look”. Taking a deep breathe, I agreed and thanked him. We followed this man through the hall and up the elevator to the fifth floor. The whole time I’m wondering if I just doomed myself and my family.
Motivation in the Form of a Distributed Workforce
I LOVE the idea of a distributed workforce, rather than using the term remote workforce. In his video, it even talks about how some of his employees are nomads, and work from a different location each day! They live in transit-homes (like RV’s, campers, vans, etc.) or explore the world through Air B&B’s. In Matt Mullenweg’s opinion, as long as they have a strong Wi-Fi connection, he doesn’t care where they work from!
A Lesson on Self-Care and Listening to Yourself
Yes, there is a saying that, as an entrepreneur, you should be working an insane amount of hours so you can hardly work in the future. However, what you may not be hearing is that many successful entrepreneurs value self care and build it into their busy days. It is non-negotiable for many of them, and is one of their highest priorities.
Black Hole Inspiration - Just Keep Trying
She’s not a well accomplished, well seasoned scientist or astronomer, she is a grad student. If that doesn’t scream motivation to the average person I don’t know what does.
The Satisfaction of an Unsteady Paycheck
In my previous roles, I was always a cog in a greater machine. Most days, I never saw how my hard work produced a finished product. While I appreciated the steady paycheck, I didn’t feel satisfied because I felt that there was more work I should have done, or felt that my portion of work didn’t make a difference in the final deliverable.
Networking with a Side of Flamin Hot Cheetos Please!
While working as the janitor, the CEO of Frito-Lay had voiced a challenge to all the employees to come up with something inventive for the company. While the other janitors were telling him “he’s not talking to you”, he believed that the CEO WAS talking to him.
