An Early Start, Tech Support, and the Need for More Caffeine
It’s now past 8:30 at night and I’m finally sitting down to write my Motivational Monday blog post. My goal for these posts are for people to read them in the beginning of the week, in the morning, to be inspired into productivity for the upcoming week.
Clearly, there was no early morning productivity inspiring going on today.
Instead, at 5:30 in the morning I was waking up to my website disappearing (due to my own mistake), issues with a social media platform disconnecting, and preparing for a meeting all while talking to tech support on the phone… while my coffee sat there looking sad, lonely and cold.
All of that happened BEFORE 9:00 am. Let’s just say that today was busy. All of my time outside of the two meetings I had was crazy. I was jumping between being a landlord, a mom, a virtual assistant and a social media manager without a breath in between.
And I loved it. I loved the busy speed of today because it reminded me that I am achieving my goals.
Often, people associate being busy with a negative light and unpleasant emotions. While that can be true, there are times where we should be looking at a busy schedule with a smile. A busy schedule could mean that you’re in high demand, that you’re doing a great job, and that you have excitement around every corner.
This is a short blog post tonight, because I’m stupidly tired after today. I do, however, want to leave you with a challenge.
Stop what you are doing and look at your calendar for tomorrow. Is it jam-packed? Are you in back-to-back meetings or have a to-do list a mile long? Don’t cringe!
Instead, challenge yourself to reframe the negative response to being busy. Instead of thinking “tomorrow is going to be horrible because I won’t get a chance to slow down” , try thinking something more positive. Think “I am excited that tomorrow is giving me so many opportunities to progress towards achieving my goals”!
You never know, that new positive thinking just might give you the productivity energy boost you need!
