Memes and Museums, Sounds like a Great Idea!

Hello!

I missed posting a Motivational Monday blog post yesterday, but I’m happy to say that I’ve stumbled across a fun and uplifting concept - museums storing memes as part of historical records. Now tell me that doesn’t put a smile on your face!

I was reading the news this morning, and stumbled upon the article written for KTUU, titled “AP: Anchorage Museum to archive social media memes on quake”, dated Monday, December 10th, 2018. This caught my eye.

The article is short, about a one minute read, but it’s very to the point. After the 7.0 earthquake, and throughout the insane amount of aftershocks, social media was blowing up with a variety of memes. These funny, sarcastic, or awkward memes captured what Alaskans were feeling.

In the article, the museum director, Julie Decker, said that these memes recorded a time in our history. As weird as it sounds to say that a meme is a historical record, I think she’s right.

So, to put a smile on your face today, I’ve included two things to wrap up this post:

  1. The title of the article above is hyperlinked to bring you to the rest of the article; and

  2. My favorite earthquake meme.

Enjoy. :)
